New Lehigh Valley Support Group Offers Hope for Families Affected by Estrangement

A new local support group is offering comfort and connection to families experiencing estrangement — a hidden but widespread issue.

Research from *Psychology Today* estimates that 27% of Americans are estranged from a family member, with nearly half experiencing periods of disconnection from close relatives. These separations can affect entire families — parents, children, siblings — yet the topic often remains hidden under a painful stigma.

Determined to break the silence, two Lehigh Valley moms, Deb Amico and Nan Berrian, have created Building Bridges, a support group for those affected by family estrangement.

Building Bridges meets every Thursday from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at the Egypt VFW Hall, 5209 Springmill Road, Whitehall Township, PA 18052.

All are welcome — whether you’re seeking connection, understanding, or simply a safe space to talk. No membership or registration is required — just bring yourself and an open heart.
